Dr. Maria Mavroudi: Pre-Health/Science Guru

Hailing from Greece, Dr. Maria Mavroudi received her Ph.D in Physical Organic Chemistry from New York University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and has been with the Opportunity Programs since 1987. No cloistered chemist wiling the hours away concocting self-serving potions, Dr. Mavroudi single-handedly designed, organizes and manages the Unit, which includes the Summer Science Enrichment Program (SSEP) and the Upper Division Science Program. Her duties include assisting students with various
                           research application processes and networking with medical and graduate
                           school recruitment professionals—all in the service of our students, many
                           of whom have won first place awards at statewide competitions.
