In 1986, the New York State Legislature created the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) to increase “access by minority or disadvantaged students to academic programs that...prepare students for licensure or employment” in scientific, technical or health-related professions. Since that time, CSTEP at NYU has provided a means for traditionally underserved, low-income students to obtain admission for STEM careers and Licensed Professions as well as academic and financial support during their course of study at the University.
As an accepted NYU and CSTEP student, you will begin by completing a required six-week introductory non-credit academic program during the summer prior to your freshman year. Your summer course schedule is determined by your individual academic needs, and will expose you to first-year courses and activities, ensuring a smooth entry into university life.
As one of our students, you will have access to our support system, which includes:
